CAPACITY BUILDING
Support and strengthen the management and operational system of the Safe Motherhood Network (Secretariat, Committees, and Members) at the central and district level.

EVENTS
Influence knowledge, attitude and behavior for improved safe motherhood (pregnancy, delivery, postpartum and newborn care) through organizing awareness raising events.

ADVOCACY
Sensitize policy makers at national and district levels about the importance of safe motherhood as a priority to ensure adequate government, donor and private sector resources/services for maternal health.

COMMUNICATION
Contribute to the framing and dissemination of standardized messages (using MOH guidelines) at the family and community levels

TECHNICAL
Provide technical support on safe motherhood issues at national, community and network activities

WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT
Sensitize network members and health practitioners at all levels to link between violence against women (VAW) and reproductive health (RH)

FINANCE AND RESOURCE MOBILIZATION
Review the finances of the network as well as identify and mobilize the required resources for the Safe Motherhood Network (SMN) and to provide policy guidance for the use of the resources.

The SMN secretariat provides communication, coordination and collaboration among the government, INGOs, NGOs and district network and documentation support to the network, under the direction of the core team. The Secretariat is housed and provided financial and administrative support by SAMANATA, one of the network’s member.
